Maryland-Michigan State game might come down to Melo Trimble, Denzel Valentine

Melo Trimble and Denzel Valentine came into the college basketball season knowing their roles — and possibly their individual goals — had changed from last year. Neither could have predicted how different the season would become.

After leading Maryland in scoring as a freshman while sharing the backcourt with senior Dez Wells, Trimble knew he would have a lot more help this season, particularly in terms of inside with the addition of transfer Robert Carter Jr. and freshman Diamond Stone.

After being second behind senior guard Travis Trice in scoring and assists, and second behind senior forward Branden Dawson in rebounding, Valentine knew he would have a lot of responsibility in all three areas — as well as leadership — during his senior year.
