Maryland basketball has some open staff spots to fill after men’s director of player development Nima Omidvar and women’s assistant coach Bett Shelby found new positions over the weekend.
Omidvar got a promotion, according to InsideMDSports, becoming an assistant coach at South Alabama, while Shelby is heading to North Carolina, based on her Twitter bio.
Omidvar, a Maryland alum, spent four seasons in an operations role, but will now be able to assist in coaching and off-campus recruiting, two duties he was prohibited from in his prior role. After working largely on scheduling and social media the past couple years, he’ll help fill out new South Alabama head coach Richie Riley’s staff, but hasn’t signed his contract yet, per The Baltimore Sun.
