After opening the season with a scoring drought, Maryland men's soccer's offense broke through last week, scoring three goals in two games. Two of those came off the foot of freshman William James Herve, earning the rookie an offensive player of the week award from the Big Ten, the conference announced Tuesday.
Both goals from Herve came in a 2-1 overtime win over Northwestern. With his mom looking on, the midfielder hit the equalizer and the 95th-minute game-winner allowing the undermanned Terps to open conference play with a win.
