Coaches hope their teams play their best lacrosse in April and May as the season winds down to conference and potentially NCAA tournaments.
Maryland, which earned the No. 6 seed in the NCAA postseason, has not done that, losing its past two games. The No. 8 Terps (12-3) welcome No. 9 and Ivy League tournament champion Yale (11-4) to Byrd Stadium in College Park in first-round action on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
As coach John Tillman pointed out, by the very nature of conference tournaments, several programs in the 18-team field will enter the NCAA postseason with losses in their most recent games, and that’s true of five schools.
