Following its blowout loss to No. 5 Iowa on Thursday, Maryland men’s basketball faces another one of the conference’s strongest teams in No. 12 Illinois Sunday night.
Thursday’s defeat marked the third straight for Maryland, dropping the team to 6-6, the program’s worst start through 12 games since the 2007-08 season. With the Big Ten proving to be even stronger than it was in 2019-20, the Terps are in desperate need of a significant response before the season is completely derailed.
Sunday’s contest will be the latest edition of a budding rivalry between the Terps and Illini.
