Maryland men’s basketball earned a commitment from Memphis transfer Jayhlon Young, Tobias Bass of The Athletic reported on Monday.
Young is the Terps fifth transfer of the offseason and fills their 13th and final scholarship spot.
The 6-foot-2 guard, who decommitted from Vermont on June 12, averaged 2.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game in 27 appearances last season as a redshirt junior. He also shot 43.4% from the field (23-of-53) and 30.8% from three (4-of-13). Young is primarily known for his perimeter defense, though, as he averaged 0.8 steals per game.
Prior to Memphis, Young spent the 2022-23 season at UCF, where he played in 33 games, starting in 12 of them, and averaged 4.
