Mark Turgeon’s fellow coaches much have been impressed with Maryland’s 74-68 win over Iowa last week.
The Terps jumped from seventh to third in this week’s USA Today Sports coaches’ poll released Monday, behind only No. 1 North Carolina (19-2) and No. 2 Oklahoma (18-2).
The Hawkeyes fell from fourth to seventh.
Maryland (19-3) received 667 points, 10 more than No. 4 Villanova (19-3) and 17 more than No. 5 Xavier.
The Terps, who beat Ohio State 66-61 in Columbus Sunday, play again Wednesday at Nebraska.
The Associated Press media poll has yet to be released.
