Maryland men's basketball jumps to No. 3 in coaches' poll

Mark Turgeon’s fellow coaches much have been impressed with Maryland’s 74-68 win over Iowa last week.

The Terps jumped from seventh to third in this week’s USA Today Sports coaches’ poll released Monday, behind only No. 1 North Carolina (19-2) and No. 2 Oklahoma (18-2).

The Hawkeyes fell from fourth to seventh.

Maryland (19-3) received 667 points, 10 more than No. 4 Villanova (19-3) and 17 more than No. 5 Xavier.

The Terps, who beat Ohio State 66-61 in Columbus Sunday, play again Wednesday at Nebraska.

The Associated Press media poll has yet to be released.
