Maryland men’s basketball’s Dec. 1 contest with Towson has been cancelled, Maryland announced Monday.
The game was cancelled out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Big Ten protocols “due to a positive COVID-19 test among Towson Tier 1 support staff personnel,” per release.
Tier 1, as described by the NCAA, “is the highest exposure tier and consists of individuals for whom physical distancing and face coverings are not possible or effective during athletic training or competition. Examples of relevant individuals include student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and physical therapists, medical staff, equipment staff and officials.
