Just over a month after hiring Damon Evans as its full-time athletic director, the University of Maryland has filled the deputy AD spot with another in-house hire. Evans announced Colleen Sorem as the school’s new Deputy Athletic Director on Monday.
It’s hardly a surprise, as Sorem had served as the interim deputy AD since October 2017, when Kevin Anderson went on “sabbatical” and Evans moved from the deputy position to the interim AD position. Sorem has been at Maryland since 2014, when she was hired as the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations. She was later promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations—where she had direct oversight of business operations, facilities and events, human resources, and information technology—before moving into her now-full-time position.
