Maryland sophomore shooting guard Dion Wiley will miss four months with a torn right meniscus, the program announced Tuesday. A Maryland spokesman confirmed Wiley is expected to miss the season.
Wiley had his meniscus repaired, which carries a longer rehabilitation period than a removal – typically three to six months, though that can vary. Wiley's estimated recovery range falls right into the standard range. A four-month timetable leaves theoretical room for Wiley to return late in the year, but that's not the team's expectation.
Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said he had expected to start Wiley at shooting guard.
