Maryland men’s basketball guard Darryl Morsell underwent surgery for a fractured bone in his face and is expected to miss one to two weeks, the team announced Friday.
Morsell, a senior who played high school basketball at Mount Saint Joseph, suffered the injury toward the end of the first half of Thursday night’s 84-73 loss to No. 16 Michigan at Xfinity Center. He took an inadvertent shot from Wolverines guard Franz Wagner in the paint. The ESPN broadcast showed a visible dent on the left side of Morsell’s face.
Morsell left the game and Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said team doctors did not allow Morsell to reenter the game.
