Maryland golf’s up-and-down 2016-17 season didn’t merit a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but junior David Kocher was selected on Thursday to compete in the regional round.
This is Kocher’s third regional bid in as many seasons. He’s coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships, highlighted by a final-round 65. Kocher will compete in West Lafayette, Indiana, from May 15-17.
A total of 81 teams and 45 individuals not on those teams made the NCAA Tournament field. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals will compete in West Lafayette; the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will reach the finals, which will be held at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Hills, Illinois, from May 26-31.
