Maryland football’s J.C. Jackson is a Super Bowl champion

For the second straight year, a former Maryland football player has won the Super Bowl. After Torrey Smith won his second Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, J.C. Jackson gets to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in his first season in the NFL.

The undrafted rookie cornerback made two tackles in the Patriots’ 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, helping hold Jared Goff to just 19-of-38 passing for 229 yards and an interception. The Rams’ three points tied the record for the fewest in the Super Bowl, sharing the mark with the Miami Dolphins, who lost to the Dallas Cowboys 24-3 in Super Bowl VI.
