Maryland football’s Darnell Savage named to All-Combine Defensive Team

Former Maryland football player Darnell Savage Jr. was named to the NFL All-Combine Defensive Team on Wednesday after an impressive showing earlier this week.

Savage ran a 4.36 40-yard dash on Monday, the second-best of all defensive backs and eighth-best at the entire combine. He also measured a 39.5-inch vertical — the third-best among safeties — and a 10’6 broad jump.

Though he had a standout combine performance, it doesn’t look like Savage will emerge as a first-round draft pick like former Terp DJ Moore did a year ago. Right now, the safety is projected to go anywhere from the late second round to the fourth round.
