Maryland football freshman safety Brandon Jacob announced Wednesday on Instagram that he intends to enter the transfer portal.
Jacob, a 6-foot-1, 194-pound Florida native, played in eight games as a freshman and totaled nine tackles (seven solo). He was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and the Terps’ highest-ranked recruit in the class of 2024.
The move comes as a bit of a surprise for Maryland. Jacob was in line to step into a starting role in 2025 with Dante Trader Jr. and Glen Miller both expected to depart for the NFL Draft. He’ll unquestionably be pursued heavily in the portal.
