Maryland football’s running backs coach Anthony Tucker is headed to UCF, Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel is reporting.
Tucker came to Maryland with Walt Bell from Arkansas State ahead of the 2016 season. Under his coaching, Ty Johnson set the single-season Maryland record for yards per carry with 9.3. That record stood since the unclaimed National Championship season of 1951, when Ed Modzelewski ran for 7.38 yards per carry. His 1,004 rushing yards made him the ninth Terp to reach the 1,000 yard milestone, and first since Da’Rel Scott in 2008.
Lorenzo Harrison fell just 57 yards short of the freshman rushing record while playing in only nine games.
