Maryland linebackers Jermaine Carter and Shane Cockerille were named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten by the conference on Tuesday.
The two redshirt juniors led the team in tackles, with Cockerille recording 108 total tackles while Carter finished with 103. Cockerille added three sacks, eight tackles for loss; Carter had five sacks, seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown.
This is Carter’s second straight conference honorable mention. He’s recorded 100 tackles in each of the last two seasons. He had his best game of 2016 Saturday against Rutgers, tallying 15 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble which he recovered.
