Maryland football has hired Joker Phillips as its new wide receivers coach, as first reported by FootballScoop on Monday. He replaces Chris Beatty, who’s reportedly joining the Pittsburgh staff as wide receivers coach.
Phillips, 55, has spent the last two years at Cincinnati. He’s coached for over three decades in both college and the NFL, with two stints at Kentucky totaling 19 years (including three as a head coach) and other stops including Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida, the Cleveland Browns and others.
Like Beatty before him, Phillips brings a strong recruiting pedigree to the position, with his strongest ties in the Southeast.
