At no point in his four-year Maryland career was Sean Davis regarded as a first- or second-round NFL Draft pick. He played his first three seasons at safety, and his athleticism was obvious, but he was prone to being badly beaten over the top on vertical passes – a no-no for a deep safety trying to make it in the NFL. He moved to cornerback in his senior season, 2015, and the story was similar: terrific athleticism, occasional lapses that led to chunk gains for opposing receivers.
But Davis' NFL draft stock appears to be shooting skyward over the past few weeks.
