DJ Durkin completed his initial Maryland football coaching staff on Wednesday, tabbing former Virginia assistant Dave Borbely as his offensive line coach.
Borbely, who has 35 years of college coaching experience, served as an offensive line coach last season at Virginia under Mike London, who resigned in late November and less than two weeks later became Maryland’s associate head coach, one of Durkin’s first hires. Borbely spent five seasons over two stints at Virginia, serving as the Cavaliers’ running game coordinator and offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2009 before returning to Charlottesville in 2015.
Borbely also has experience at Louisville, where he served as an assistant under current Texas Coach Charlie Strong from 2010 to 2013.
