Maryland senior captain Linnea Gonzales was announced as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Player of the Year on Monday after a successful 2018 campaign.
Gonzales also earned Big Ten Player of the Year, NFHCA’s Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year, and was named First Team All-Big Ten after the 2018 season, in which she finished with career highs of 14 goals and 33 points.
During her career at Maryland, Gonzales started all 94 games. She tallied up 43 goals and 13 assists, while helping the team win two Big Ten tournament titles, three Big Ten regular-season titles, and four NCAA Tournament appearances that resulted in back-to-back trips to the national final.
