Maryland field hockey wins second consecutive Big Ten title

Behind a record-setting performance from senior Welma Luus, Maryland’s field hockey team won its second consecutive Big Ten title with a 5-1 win over Michigan on Sunday.

Luus scored four goals for the seventh-ranked Terrapins (19-3), who secured the program’s 22nd overall conference title with the win. Luus, a fifth-year senior from Pretoria, South Africa, set a Big Ten Tournament record with seven goals in a three-game stretch, shattering the previous mark of six that was set in 1981.
