Maryland field hockey travels to Happy Valley to play Penn State

Maryland field hockey travels to Happy Valley to face Big Ten rival Penn State on Friday, still remembering last year's battles between the two teams.

No. 8 Maryland (10-3) is on an eight-game winning streak after defeating Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, giving coach Missy Meharg career win No. 500. Next up is Penn State (5-6), whose two games against the Terps last year were incredibly physical. The referees handed out six cards during the two games, both of which Maryland won.

The memory of last year's games provides extra motivation for sophomore Lein Holsboer.

"I think this is my biggest rivalry game, because it was so physical last year," she said.
