Maryland field hockey completed another weekend sweep of conference opponents Sunday, as the No. 2 Terrapins took down Iowa, 2-1, in a matchup of top-10 Big Ten teams.
Iowa held control of this match statistically, but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net. The No. 8 Hawkeyes took eight shots to Maryland’s five and had eight corners to the Terrapins’ two, but Maryland took advantage of just enough chances to win. The Terrapins scored late in the first half and pulled ahead quickly after Iowa tied it in the second half, then held on for the win.
