Maryland field hockey coach Missy Meharg added another major decoration to her storied career Sunday, picking up her 500th win after the Terrapins defeated Miami (Ohio) 6-2.
Meharg is just the fourth Division I coach to reach the milestone, which came as eighth-ranked Maryland (10-3, 4-0 Big Ten) won its eighth straight game. In 28 seasons at Maryland, Meharg has built the program into a perennial power and established herself as one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history.
She now has a career record of 500-122-9 (.800) and has led Maryland to seven NCAA titles, 16 Final Fours and 20 conference championships.
