Maryland freshman Aaron Wiggins was one of 20 players named to the watch list for the Julius Erving Award, given to the nation’s top small forward, on Wednesday.
Wiggins is one of six freshmen on the list, joining high school teammate Jaylen Hoard and a handful of former Maryland targets (Cameron Reddish, Keldon Johnson and Louis King). Wiggins was the No. 42 overall player in the 2018 class, and while it’s unclear whether he or Eric Ayala will round out Maryland’s starting lineup, he’s got the tools to be an immediate impact player.
By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2019 Erving Award will be narrowed to 10.
