Former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell recruited some of the players who have their numbers hanging from the rafters in Xfinity Center, and in February, he’ll join them.
Driesell, who coached the Terps from 1969 to 1986 (17 seasons), will get a banner in his own name in a pregame ceremony before Maryland takes on Ohio State on Feb. 11.
“We are thrilled and excited to honor Lefty Driesell,” Maryland director of athletics Kevin Anderson said in a release. “Lefty is more than just a coaching legend who won 786 career games. He is a pioneer, an innovator, and continues to be committed to growing the game of college basketball.
