Maryland basketball up to No. 23 in AP poll despite suffering 1st loss

Maryland men’s basketball will keep its ranking this week despite losing its first game in the process. The Terps (7-1, 1-0 Big Ten) moved up a spot to No. 23 in the AP poll after going 1-1 since entering the rankings.

Maryland nearly orchestrated a comeback against the No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers, after being down by as much as 17 early in the second half. The Terps would fall by five, but it was an impressive showing. They followed it up with a 66-59 win over Penn State to jump out to a 1-0 record in conference play.
