Wednesday didn’t start well for Maryland basketball’s Jalen Smith. The McDonald’s All-American was pulled early in the first half after not diving for a loose ball, and Nebraksa’s Isaiah Roby soared over him for a thunderous dunk early in the second half.
But in the final minute, Smith made the difference for Maryland. He scored the Terps’ last seven points, including a floater with 3.8 seconds left to give the Terps a 74-72 win over the No. 24 Cornhuskers to start 2019.
After a three-point play by Smith to give Maryland a 70-67 lead with 2:39 to go, the Huskers answered back with four straight points in the next 26 seconds to retake the lead.
