The Maryland basketball team really gutted out Sunday’s game against Michigan.
As it so happens, Robert Carter may have been the biggest reason for that.
Despite leading by as many as 16 points, the Terrapins had to fight through all 40 minutes to top the Wolverines. Maryland shot a very impressive 54.4 percent (31-of-57) from the field and also managed to outrebound Michigan 32-25 on the afternoon.
With 12:12 remaining in the game, forward Jake Layman connected on a three-pointer to put the Terps up 66-58. It was Layman’s second make from beyond the arc in just over a minute’s time.
