Maryland basketball did not land NJIT transfer and Gaithersburg, Maryland, native Anthony Tarke Thursday afternoon, but all may not be lost. NC State released four-star small forward Saddiq Bey from his letter of intent Wednesday, and the Sidwell Friends prospect seems to be in play for the hometown Terps.
Tarke is a 6’6 forward who could have been a reinforcement on the wing after sitting out due to transfer rules. Instead, he’s headed to UTEP. In his stead, Maryland may turn back to the local product it didn’t land the first time around. Mark Turgeon and the Terps were lightly involved in Bey’s initial recruitment, and didn’t make his final six last fall before he ultimately made the call for NC State, but may be one of his best options this late in the recruiting cycle.
