Despite not taking the floor for Maryland until the fall, Kevin Huerter is already making a name for himself.
In the FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Thursday evening, Huerter led Team USA with a game-high 14 points in a 70-50 win.
Huerter connected on five of his eight field goal attempts. The New York native made three of his five shots from beyond the arc on the night.
Huerter entered the game with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. He scored his first basket in transition after a Chile turnover with 17 seconds left in the frame.
