Maryland basketball coach Mark Turgeon wants top Terps on a 'pitch count' against Bowie State

Maryland men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon is a big baseball fan, so he knows all about pitch counts.

After his now-No. 2 Terps played and won four Big Ten games in a span of 11 days -- most recently against then-No. 18 Purdue Saturday at Xfinity Center -- Turgeon acknowledged before the team resumed practice Monday that he would like to use the basketball equivalent in Tuesday’s game against Division II Bowie State.

“Whenever you play you hope to play well, so that’s the key,” Turgeon said. “Mentally you’re ready to play. But I’d like to have a ‘pitch count’ tomorrow.
