Maryland baseball was well-represented in the Cape Cod League this summer, but two Terps will return to College Park as champions.
Outfielder Marty Costes and second baseman Nick Dunn helped the Brewster Whitecaps win the league’s three-game championship series over the Bourne Braves over the weekend. Dunn was named co-MVP of the series, as he went 5-for-10 and drove in three runs in the second game.
Dunn becomes the second Terp in as many years to capture playoff MVP honors, following former middle-infield partner Kevin Smith. Only Vanderbilt has previously had players win the honor back-to-back.
Costes’ numbers don’t quite match those of Dunn, but Brewster isn’t holding the trophy without this eighth-inning grab.
