After dropping a surprising 7-1 result to Purdue on Friday, Maryland baseball defeated the Boilermakers 6-0 Saturday at Shipley Field.
After some early-season struggles, Maryland starting pitcher Mike Shawaryn is starting to look more like his sophomore self. On Saturday he handled the Boilermakers with ease. In eight innings of work, the junior allowed only three hits while walking one and striking out 10 batters. He didn't allow an extra-base hit, and lowered his ERA to 3.60 while picking up his third win to go to 3-3 on the season.
Purdue tried to counter Shawaryn with a junior ace of its own, but Matt Frawley wasn't quite up to the task.
