Maryland baseball sweeps Ohio State on walk-off single, 5-4

Maryland baseball swept the Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday, using Dan Maynard's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Buckeyes, 5-4. The Terps had previously taken both halves of a doubleheader on Friday.

Entering the ninth down 4-2, the Terrapins (17-15) used small ball to beat the Buckeyes. After a walk, a single and a walk, senior Anthony Papio connected with the first pitch he saw to drive in two runs and tie the game. Andrew Bechtold walked, setting up Maynard's game winner.

The freshman catcher singled off relief pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos, bringing in the winning run for the Terrapins and giving them their fourth straight win at an important time in the middle of the season and the beginning of Big Ten play.
