Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon took a short break from the grind of offseason workouts and recruiting on Monday, retreating to the program’s film room for a quick ice cream social. Turgeon’s first job came at a Baskin Robbins in Topeka, Kan., when he was a 14-year-old with little awareness that an ice cream flavor would someday be named after him.
The University of Maryland Dairy has made habit of naming flavors after Terps coaches, and it added another Monday when it unveiled the “Turge Turtle Crunch.” The flavor has a vanilla bean base and is topped with chocolate syrup swirl, crushed salted almonds and vanilla wafers.
