MADISON, Wis. — Mark Turgeon wasn’t trying to send a message when he pulled Melo Trimble with 4:32 remaining in Sunday’s 71-60 loss to Wisconsin — not to his junior star or to anyone else. During a terse and quick postgame news conference in the bowels of Kohl Center, Turgeon was swift in his responses to questions about the move, which came with his team trailing by 12 and after Trimble missed the front end of two one-and-one free throws.
“He was tired. Missed a couple front end of one-and-ones. If we would’ve made some kind of a run on them, I would’ve went back with him,” Turgeon said.
