Maryland basketball is still putting together its 2018 class, but the Terps now have their first two commits for the Class of 2019. Twin brothers Makhi and Makhel Mitchell committed to Maryland on Friday, as first reported by Jon Rothstein.
Both twins are 6’9 post players from nearby Bishop McNamara. Makhi, who’s listed as a center, is the more highly-regarded prospect, sitting at No. 38 in the country on the 247Sports Composite and No. 7 at his position. Makhel, a power forward, is 101st in the Composite rankings.
Maryland offered the twins in April after hiring Kevin Broadus, who had been recruiting them for Georgetown.
