Linebacker Melvin Keihn, who transferred to Maryland three years ago after starting his college football career at Virginia Tech, is leaving College Park with hopes of playing elsewhere as a graduate transfer.
A team spokesman said that Keihn is no longer on the roster and had graduated, but could not provide any further details. Keihn told InsideMDSports that Maryland didn’t have the right master’s program.
The former Gilman standout was a part-time starter during his two seasons of eligibility, which coincided with DJ Durkin’s first two years coaching the Terps.
After making 23 tackles as a redshirt junior in 2016 — including a career-high eight at Penn State — Keihn had just six tackles last season as his playing time on defense dwindled.
