Future Maryland guard Anthony Cowan Jr. shows potential as St. John's wins WCAC title

With current Maryland point guard Melo Trimble and several of his teammates looking on, future Terps point guard Anthony Cowan Jr. showed Monday night that the Terps will be in good hands should Trimble leave College Park after his sophomore year.

Playing against a DeMatha team that featured two high-major Division I prospects in Markelle Fultz and D.J. Harvey, Cowan’s 21 points, seven assists and three steals led St. John’s College High to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title at American University’s Bender Arena.

“This takes care of all the hard work we put in,” Cowan said.
