Former Maryland star Dez Wells has signed with a team in Greece.
Wells will play for Doxa Lefkadas, a team based on an island off Greece’s West Coast. It marks the first time in its 35-year history that the team will play in the top division of the country’s professional leagues.
Wells, who went undrafted after being a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior in 2015, played last season with the Oklahoma City Blue, an NBDL affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After playing on the Chicago Bulls’ summer league team this year, Wells had an offer from a team in Germany, but failed a physical because of hamstring problems that plagued him last season.
