The 2019 ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame was released Monday, and former Maryland linebacker E.J. Henderson is making his first appearance.
Henderson was a two-time consensus All-American with the Terps, and he’s second in program history with 472 tackles and first with 18.5 tackles for loss. He was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year twice and won ACC Player of the Year in 2001. The following season, he earned both the Bednarik Award for the nation’s top defensive player and the Butkus Award for the nation’s top linebacker.
This year’s ballot includes 76 FBS players, so it’ll be difficult for Henderson to stand out in that pack, but his accomplishments at least merit consideration.
