INDIANAPOLIS — Maryland guard Rasheed Sulaimon comforted Melo Trimble after Saturday’s 64-61 loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. The senior guard told Trimble to keep his head up after missing a potential game-winning layup and later not drawing a foul on a 75-foot desperation heave. For as turbulent of a past as Sulaimon has, he was a calming force in a somber Terrapins’ locker room, where he sat in his socks and reflected for a moment on his time at Duke.
He reminded himself that during his freshman year in Durham, the Blue Devils were bounced early in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament by, ironically, Maryland.
