The Terrapins’ freshman phenom had just beaten the buzzer to send the fourth-seeded Terrapins to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 for the first time in nearly a decade, and he was quick to credit his roots in the crazy aftermath.
When asked on the court by sideline reporter Andy Katz how he summoned the wherewithal to sink a contorted, contested fadeaway jumper off the glass for a 72-71 victory over 12th-seeded Colorado State, Queen said simply, “I’m from Baltimore, that’s why.
