Jaylen Brantley was perhaps more well-known to Maryland’s fan base for his role in the Running Man Challenge than as a basketball player before Saturday night’s game against Oklahoma State. He had danced his way to national fame over the summer along with teammate Jared Nickens, making appearances on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and at the ESPYs. But he was also quietly putting in long hours on the court, working to develop on both ends of the floor in preparation to join the rotation after a wobbly sophomore season.
In front of the largest Xfinity Center crowd of the season, Brantley turned in the most significant performance of his short career in College Park, finishing with 12 points and helping key a 13-0 second half run in Maryland’s 71-70 win over Oklahoma State.
