College basketball rankings, Week 5: Maryland drops to No. 9 in Coaches Poll

After suffering their first loss of the season, the Terps dropped seven spots in the latest Coaches Poll.

The Maryland men's basketball team dropped seven spots to No. 9 in the latest Coaches Poll, released Monday afternoon. This is the lowest ranking of the season for the Terps, who began the year as the nation's No. 3 team. Maryland had moved up to the No. 2 spot two weeks ago before falling this week.

Maryland lost for the first time this season on Tuesday evening against the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, a game that was part of the annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
