Maryland junior quarterback Perry Hills is currently sitting atop the depth chart in the Terrapins’ three-way quarterback battle, Randy Edsall said Monday in a radio interview with ESPN 980.
“Right now, Perry is our number one, with Daxx [Garman] being a very close second. And then Caleb [Rowe] would be third right now,” Edsall said.
Edsall’s comments come just two days after Hills earned a bulk of the first-team reps during Maryland’s open scrimmage, where the junior went 12-of-17 for 72 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. While much of the attention has revolved around the competition between Garman and Rowe, Edsall said Saturday that Hills has graded-out the best through the first two weeks of camp – and he has remained as the top candidate to start after the staff evaluated his performance from the scrimmage.
