Caleb Rowe is Terps’ new starting QB, and Perry Hills is bumped to No. 3

Redshirt junior Caleb Rowe has supplanted Perry Hills atop Maryland’s depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game against South Florida.

Maryland Coach Randy Edsall hinted that changes could would come to the two-deep following the Terrapins’ embarrassing 48-27 loss to Bowling Green last weekend. The moves were swift. In addition to Rowe’s promotion on the depth chart released Monday, Oklahoma State transfer Daxx Garman was named the backup quarterback. At wide receiver, freshmen D.J. Moore and Taivon Jacobs are both listed as starters this week, alongside entrenched starter junior Levern Jacobs.

The moves come after a shaky start to the season for the team’s passing game, which simply couldn’t keep up with Bowling Green’s prolific attack.
