Maryland center Brionna Jones was part of the U.S. women’s basketball team that won the gold medal at World University Games with an 82-64 victory over Canada on Monday in Gwangjiu, South Korea.
Jones had four points, two assists and two steals in the final. In her first appearance with USA Basketball, the junior-to-be averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds as the United States went 6-0.
“It was an unbelievable experience, and I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity,” Jones said in a statement. “It felt amazing to get to stand on the podium, receive a gold medal and know that I helped represent our country in one of the greatest ways possible.
